This painting, created in 1978 and signed GC Sutherland is a very good watercolor copy of Louis Silvia's oil painting that Trudy also owned.
This watercolor painting is somewhat of a mystery. Trudy completed this piece at about the same time but featured the stern of the CW Morgan, a scene that may be an original idea that also focuses on the sunlight hitting the ship's port side

A Birthday gift painted for Hala Rollins, Anne (Sutherland) Rollins' Mother-in-Law. Upon Hala's passing, Anne gave this picture to her granddaughter Hala.
Painted in 1981. Especially nice to see an example of Trudy's very nice handwriting.

Trudy liked to paint scenes as gifts that represent a favorite subject. In this case, the backyard of Bruce and Eileen Cunningham, Trudy's brother and sister-in-law in Orleans Massachusetts, attracted a lot of birds such as the Yellow Warbler.

It may be one of Mum's last paintings?

This painting (in oil) was one of the earliest most of us remember. It was a self portait of painted around 1976 and signed by GC Sutherland. It had a prominent place in Anne's living room in Natick for years, that many recall when visiting during the holidays. Gary researched the book Mum carried and now has a copy.
